March 2009 - Lewis, Kites, and Boar

Luke's class has been studying explorers. Luke chose to study Meriwether Lewis. At the end of the unit on explorers, each student dressed up like the explorer they studied, and they invited the parents and the rest of the students in the school to go around and ask questions of each of these explorers. Luke had a great time acting as a statue until someone came up to him to ask him a question.

Here's Luke with the students who studied Clark and Sacagawea.

One Saturday this month Heidi and I took Mallory on another shopping trip to Liege, Belgium. In addition to stocking up on food at Carrefour, we also stopped again at Decathlon for clothes & sports stuff, including a couple of kites. The field right in front of our house is an ideal spot for flying kites.

And late in March on a somewhat rainy afternoon, I took Grant, Luke, and Mallory to a forest / park here near Bonn for a church Easter activity -- they had organized a scavenger hunt in the forest for the kids. They have a few animals in the park -- including these wild boar.
