2012 February: Trip to Florida

Florida!
We decided to take a trip to Orlando for our ski break this year.  This was my thinking...we love Disney parks...okay, maybe I love Disney parks, but anyway, we have very good memories as a family going to the Disney parks.  Nash is a junior this year.  Sad as it sounds, he will be leaving us soon and I thought, 'What a great idea, take a great family trip to Orlando this year as one last HURRAH before Nash leaves this house and doesn't travel (or doesn't want to) with us anymore.'  So we decided we'd go.  It's a long way to fly for one week, but it was worth it.  We had a great time and enjoyed being in the US,  hearing English, being able to understand the signs, eating the great unhealthy and oh so yummy American food.  It was a great trip and I think we were all happy we went even if it meant suffering the jet lag for that first week back at school.

They look so excited don't they?  Waiting to board the plane in Budapest.

We saw these buzzards eating a raccoon on our way to church.  The boys and Creed were totally fascinated by it!  We had to drive by it three times.  Luke's comment while looking at it was classic Luke. 'Hey, maybe they will all be wearing coon skin hats and hanging out when we drive by after church.'

Gotta love the good ol' USA where everything is huge!  This was our rental car, a 12 passenger van.  We couldn't even hear Nash speak way back there!

Welcome to the happiest place on earth!

First ride of the trip.  Tower of Terror!

Mallory loved it.  She's the little daredevil.  Wasn't a roller coaster in sight that she didn't ride. Unless she was too short.

Waiting in line for the new Toy Story ride.  LOVED IT!

Mallory and Luke ready to win.

 Nash, eating a turkey leg.

Test Track.  I think Nash was a little nervous.  This is usually my face when he drives.

 Mission to Mars

While waiting in line for Soarin' they had an interactive game.  We tried to get all of those around us to play so we would win but it was just us, that made fools of ourselves.

 Yup, we lost.

 Soarin'

The boys at the shootin' gallery.

Luke, goofing around.  Notice how many glasses are around him.  The boys were in heaven getting free refills of Root Beer!

Waiting in line for the Haunted Mansion.  These guys look familiar...

Luke and Grant might have a future in organ playing.

Luke, as close as he's going to get to driving for a LONG time!  Thank goodness!!

Same with Mallory.  Creed was brave!

Oh the culinary joys of Disney World.  Who doesn't love a Churro?

I read that the treat to find in Magic Kingdom was the Dole pineapple float.  It was true!  Delicious!  Obviously, Grant and Nash thought so too.

Harry Potter's Wizarding World at Universal.

Thumbs up from Nash.  Waiting to go on the Forbidden Journey ride.

We ate lunch at the Three Broomsticks.  Complete with Butter Beer. (not my favorite)

Of course, everyone had to try getting a butter beer mustache. Luke went for the 'What is that?' look.

 "What are you lookin' at?"

 'Nothing to see here.'

Is there something on my face?

Grant inside Olivander's Wand Shop.  Tee hee, he looks amazed.

The boys enjoying a coaster at Animal Kingdom.

We loved walking around Epcot and the tour of countries and seeing depictions of places we've been to before.  The stave church from Norway

We felt right at home in the Germany section.  Nash even ordered a Bratwrust in German.

Creed and Nash went to Morocco and enjoyed seeing things they saw on their trip there in May of 2010.

Creed had been telling the kids we weren't leaving EPCOT until we found out what it stood for.  We asked a few workers, they didn't know.  Luke finally asked someone and she wrote it down for him.  He won!

Proof.  Do you know what EPCOT stands for?

Luke, Mallory and Grant getting ready to eat Bertie Botts Every flavor beans we bought at Harry Potter's Wizarding World.  I skipped this part...no thanks to vomit flavored jelly beans!
