Heidi, Mallory, and Heather on the plane ride from Jakarta to Bali.
The plane ride from Jakarta to Bali flies over most of the island of Java, which is covered with mountains and volcanoes. Here are a few photos of the smoke coming out of some of the volcanoes - a reminder that many of these volcanoes are still active.
Here we are at the Uluwatu temple, looking over the cliff at the ocean with our guide, Kadek.
Here's Nash & Grant, with a monkey and the cliffs in the background (notice Nash has removed his glasses -- luckily, no glasses-swiping incident this time). You can also see the area where the Kecak & Fire Dance performance is held.

The next day we hired a boat for the day to take us snorkelling at several areas around Nusa Lembongan - smaller island about an hour to the east of Bali. Here are the boys on the bow of the boat at our first snorkelling spot. Highlights of that spot were a stingray, that pretty much just rested on the bottom of the ocean, and a puffer fish that Nash and I followed around for a couple of minutes.
We stopped for lunch at a restaurant on the beach of Lembongan island. Mallory entertained us with her monkey impression.
More shots of the boys wandering along the beach of Nusa Lembongan near the restaurant. We found lots of little fish and other sea creatures (the one in the photo below might be an eel) in the tide pools.
