This week the kids had a half-day off school on Thursday (Thanksgiving) and no school on Friday. I had to work. So Heidi and the kids went with several other families in our church branch to Taipei, Taiwan so they could go to the temple there.
In addition to going to the temple, they went to a night market (Mallory and a friend).
At the night market - they had airsoft guns and practiced their aims at balloons.
They made a trip to Costco, and felt like they were transported back to the US for a short period of time.
They went to the Chiang Kai-shek memorial
Chiang Kai-shek in an Abraham Lincoln-style pose.
More at the night market.
They took a gondola ride through the trees...
....in Hello Kitty - themed gondolas, although it looks like they forgot the 'o' in Hello...
And they went to eat at Chili's.
On Saturday night when they got back, Heidi got to work on baking pies for our 2nd Thanksgiving Dinner.
On Sunday afternoon, we went to a Christmas concert / open house at our church. About 20 groups (some from among the members of our church and some from the community) sang Christmas songs. Mallory performed with the children from our church.
Luke, Heidi, and I sang 2 German Christmas songs with German-speaking members of our church -- Grant accompanied on guitar.
And Heidi and Luke sang a couple of songs with a choir from our branch.
We then came home to have our Thanksgiving dinner with the Larsen family.
We made everyone wear the traditional hats, of course.
Different ways to wear the hats...Left to Right, the Gangsta way, the 'Hi, I'm Prospector Pete' way and the 'bored Pilgrim' way.
So happy to be here in Shanghai with good friends.
