Photos: Parangtritis Beach 4 November 2005

Visiting a batik factory in Jogjakarta.

Nash and Grant in the tour bus -- they told us they were sitting in Business Class and that we were sitting on the back row in Economy.

The visit to Parangtritis beach.

It was hot on Thursday morning when we went to Borobudur.

The family around the hotel -- at the pool, waiting for a taxi, and watching a show.

Photos: Taman Sari, Yogyakarta 2 November 2005

After the bird market we walked through a tunnel to a place called Taman Sari, which is a swimming pool used by the Sultan and his family.

These first three shots are from our stroll through the Bird Flu Market.

We saw tons of people on the streets of Yogyakarta on Wednesday making little containers out of coconut or palm leaves for Idul Fitri. Apparently they boil rice inside the containers for about 5 hours and then eat it.

Photos: Kraton - Yogyakarta 2 November 2005

These photos are from the Kraton, which is the Sultan's palace. It wasn't the most lively place (as you can probably tell from the expressions on the boys' faces) but it was interesting enough.

Mallory in the airport lounge before our flight to Yogyakarta.
After checking in to the hotel, we went to the pool for a couple of hours. Of course, the boys took advantage of the opportunity to work on new poses for these photos.

The Hyatt hotel has a great waterslide. Above and below are shots of the boys at the top of the waterslide, which is patterened after the Borobudur temple.

On Tuesday afternoon we went to Prambanan temple, which is the largest Hindu temple site in Indonesia, just 30 minutes from the hotel.

Each of the 6 temples had a room in it with a statue of one of the Hindu gods.

A couple other photos of Prambanan.

After seeing Prambanan it was pouring rain. We had dinner at a restaurant right by the theatre to see the Ramayana play.

This is just a photo of the boys swimming in the pool in the rain. They are using the large palm leaves that fall from our trees as umbrellas.
